CERF 2009

Call for Scientific Session and Workshop Proposals

Session and workshop proposal deadline is September 4, 2008 extended to September 25th, midnight PST

Updated on June 4, 2008 September 2nd, 2008

NEW!!: Please submit online through the ERF Proposal Submission site.

You are invited to help us develop a comprehensive, intellectually rich and rewarding event.  The conference organizers seek to promote interactions among coastal and estuarine scientists, students, and managers, and to integrate ideas across disciplines.  Please assist us by proposing an oral session, poster session, combined oral/poster session or a workshop for CERF 2009.

Invitation to International and Early Career Professionals

The Federation especially encourages proposals from coastal and estuarine scientists and managers living outside of North America and from early career professionals.

Poster Session Proposals

As at past conferences, we plan to showcase poster presentations as an integral component of sessions. The conference schedule will be designed to highlight these sessions by providing a 2-hour lunch break each day for targeted poster presentations.  All coffee breaks and CERF happy hours will also be located in the poster hall.

Workshop Proposals

As at past conferences, we plan a limited number of workshops on Sunday afternoon (November 1st) preceding the evening Plenary Session.   We may also have a few workshops in the week.  Please use the new proposal submittal system to send us your workshop proposals.

If you would like to consult someone concerning your proposal for scientific sessions or workshops, please email the appropriate CERF 2009 scientific program contact:

Please be prepared to act as the convener and/or identify others who will help develop and chair this session. The Scientific Program Chairs will work with you to develop diverse participation and options for an integrated synthesis component for each scientific session.

Information you need to submit a proposal

  1. Lead convener name with full contact information.
  2. Other convener names (limit to 3 other conveners) and email addresses
  3. Identify one of four choices.  Is this proposal for a workshop, an oral session, a poster session or a combined oral/poster session?  Note that the Scientific Program committee will do its best to give you your choice but cannot guarantee it.
  4. Title.  10 words or less.  If your title is greater than 10 words, we reserve the right to shorten it for publication.
  5. Proposals. Required short description and optional long description of the session or workshop theme (No tables or graphics, please.).  Please restrict the body of your optional long description to one page (800 words).   You will also be asked to provide a short description of 50 to 100 words for inclusion on the web site and in our newsletters, in the call for abstracts and in the program book.
  6. Optional.  Provide a list of identified or potential participants.  Note that each session will include both invited (by you) speakers and contributed (from the abstract submittal process) speakers.  Thus, we can only guarantee a limited number (6-7) of invitees per proposed session.
