Oregon Estuarine Reserve Stewardship Program Coordinator

South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve (SSNERR) is currently recruiting for a limited duration full time position located in Charleston, Oregon. SSNERR is a branch of the Oregon Department of State Lands, a state government agency. The Reserve is a 4,800-acre natural research area encompassing a portion of the Coos River estuary on the southern Oregon coast and is the only one of its kind in the state of Oregon. It is one of 27 similarly designated estuarine sites in the U. S. coastal zone.

The primary purpose of this position is to lead activities related to the stewardship of estuaries, notably the South Slough estuary. This position leads the implementation of the SSNERR stewardship plan and the framework for watershed stewardship outlined in the SSNERR Management plan, ensuring that the Reserve develops and implements timely and appropriate management responses to changes in or threats to the ecosystems and ecosystem processes associated with the Reserve. This position develops and implements restoration and acquisition projects undertaken by the Reserve, and assures that research, education/interpretation, construction, and management efforts are consistent with SSNERR stewardship objectives.
