Senior Environmental Scientist, Coastal Programs, Indian River Lagoon, Florida

The St. Johns River Water Management District offers a challenging opportunity for an experienced estuarine ecologist to assume senior-level scientist position in the Coastal Basins Section of the Division of Environmental Sciences. This position will manage a large-scale seagrass restoration program for the Indian River Lagoon in east central Florida, and provide scientific guidance on management issues related to other benthic communities including, but not limited to, oysters, hard clams and other invertebrates. The position will be responsible for the development of research, monitoring and management plans regarding submersed aquatic vegetation and benthic fauna, development and coordination of research projects, and the supervision of professional staff.

Job Requirements:
A master's degree from an accredited college or university in marine biology, botany or ecology; or oceanography, coastal environmental science or a related field with an emphasis on coastal ecology/environmental science, and at least 4 to 6 years experience (depending on pay grade) in natural resource management and publication of scientific papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. A doctorate from an accredited college or university in the same disciplines as stated above, and 3 to 5 years of natural resource management and publication experience.
