Everglades Position Opening: Associate Project Manager

The Florida Everglades was once a free flowing river of grass, filtering nutrients and pollutants from surface water from Central Florida to Florida Bay. The impounding of Lake Okeechobee and the creation of canals to convey water for agriculture south of the lake changed the natural environment of south Florida tremendously. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District (CESAJ), in partnership with the South Florida Water Management District and numerous other federal, state, local, and tribal partners, came up with a plan to restore the Everglades (known as CERP). This plan is meant to enhance the supply of fresh water into Florida Bay to restore estuarine salinity levels, improve flood protection for the dense populations of the coastal zones, and ensure fresh drinking water for south Florida residents.

The Associate Project Manager provides support to the Everglades Partners Joint Venture's (EPJV) Senior Project Managers or Project Managers in the production of reports and data analyses related to the management of projects in the South Florida restoration effort. The EPJV is a joint effort of the firms of Parsons and PBS&J providing multidisciplinary services in project and program management to the CESAJ in the South Florida restoration effort.

The Associate Project Manager must quickly develop a working knowledge of Corps project development process. The duties of this position require knowledge of moderately complex technical topics in the arena of environmental restoration, engineering, project and program management and the ability to translate these topics into text understandable to a non-technical audience. This position works under the immediate supervision of senior staff, but the position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment. Individual initiative is desirable, particularly in the conduct of standard duties and potential process improvements.
