Funding Available for Undergraduates Attending ERF2007

Dear Colleagues:

For those of you conducting and/or mentoring undergraduate research, I wanted you to be aware of a funding opportunity for undergraduates planning to attend the ERF conference in Providence in Fall 2007. With funds from NSF, ERF is able to sponsor up to 15 undergraduate minority students to attend the conference and present the results of their undergraduate research. The package includes travel, hotel, registration, meals and a full slate of events designed to immerse the student in the complete ERF experience. Our goal is to attract and retain undergraduate students from racial/ethnic groups under-represented in science.

You may know of an undergraduate student conducting research now -- please let them know of this opportunity, even if they will have graduated before the ERF conference next fall. And keep the conference in mind as you work with students over the coming year -- if not this summer, you may have undergraduate students conducting research with you over the academic year and/or next summer!

Here's the link describing the program: http://www.wm.edu/environment/erf/ERF.html.

Thanks for steering to students as appropriate,

Randy Chambers, College of William & Mary
