Shorebird Monitor

AIS Inc. is recruiting for experienced shore bird observers to monitor operations of a beach restoration project within the Rockaway Beach Endangered Species Nesting Area on Long Island, NY. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project will require endangered species observers to implement protective measures around nesting sites of piping plover, least and roseate tern. The operations will be conducted 24 hours a day for approximately 4 months beginning 3/21/14.

Post-Doctoral Position in Great Lakes Ecology/Environmental Science

Motived post-doctoral scholar is sought for a research position at the University of Michigan to study long-term trends in water quality parameters in Great Lakes as influenced by stressors, i.e., climate change, non-indigenous species, phosphorus load reductions, etc. This position will be in the new Water Center and the scholar will be actively working with a team of senior Great Lakes scientists at the Water Center including; Don Scavia, Gary Fahnenstiel, Tom Nalepa and Dave Schwab.

Postdoctoral Associate-Climate change effects on fish and shellfish ecology and estuarine ecosystems

The incumbent will prepare for and conduct trawl surveys, supervise graduate and undergraduate students in the field and lab, manage collected data and carry out statistical analyses, conduct ecosystem modelling, and participate in the preparation of publications and proposals under the supervision of the Principal Investigators.
